Built in 1885. This beautiful Kranich& Bach parlor grand piano has been idle since it was refurbished, rebuilt, and tuned in 2012. Long and was crafted from Brazilian Rosewood, which since 1992 has been taken off the market due to its endangered status. Before I acquired it in 2010, the previous owners cared for it for more than 50 years in their home in New Hope, PA. The piano is 100% playable and in near perfect condition.
The price listed is flexible and I am willing to ship anywhere and shipping fee included in asking price. Ragland Piano Company is owned and operated by me- Howard Gustafson. I am a second-generation piano technician with over 25 years experience with all types of pianos. Including player pianos. My career started as a preteen helping my father with minor tasks in his shop, followed a few years later by a decade associated with one of the largest music stores in the Memphis, TN area. I relocated to Texarkana, TX in 1996 and a year later opened Ragland Piano Company in its present location at 314 Main Street.
I have three boys, the oldest of whom has started assisting me in the shop after school- the third generation to work in the piano business. This is what I have done professionally all my adult life. Kranich& Bach 5' Baby Grand Piano Light Mahogany Cabinet. Serial#62426 Matching bench with music storage compartment included Free door.
To door ground delivery within 100 miles of Texarkana. If outside this area. Contact me for reasonable rates- be sure to include your zip code. In many cases we can still offer free or substantially discounted rates. 2 Year parts and labor warranty within 100 miles of Texarkana Very good playing piano. Awesome genuine i.y keytops(Ebay doesn't let us use the'i' word unless it's over 100 years old, despite the material being legal at the time the piano was manufactured, photo below) all brass polished, nice cabinet. Interior cleaned& serviced.
Tuned to A440. Many sellers on the internet are only offering their pianos'as-is' or'condition unknown'. My favorite, just needs tuning' very unlikely unless it is new or newly restored/reconditioned) The truth is, most people don't fully realize the mechanical nature of a piano. Just because it makes a sound when a key is pressed does not mean it works properly.
This piano has been reconditioned in our own service facility- click to see a photo tutorial(shows a Yamaha studio but the principles involved are similar) that shows the reconditioning process. All keys play(and play properly. Up for auction is a re-listinge of an Exceptional Semi-Concert Grand piano manufactured in about 1920 by Kranich and Bach. This piano was donated to a church about 10 years ago.
And underwent a soup-to-nuts overhaul. By the way, this is a re-listing as EBAY deleted it due to the detail about the keytops, which I believe are original to the piano. The condition of the piano is superby and here is a summary: Pinblock- replaced and in good condition. Holds tune very well. Shanks and flanges- replaced/1filing/like new. Whippens/jacks- replaced/superb condition.
Soundboard- APPEARS to have been replaced. Very clean and white. Strings- mid range and upper range are great. Bass strings are in fair condition. Finish- The top was refinished in December 2012 and has a high gloss mirror finish(see details below) The remainder of the piano is. In good condition. Bench- included.
Piano Dolley(pictured) not included; wheels on legs are missing. This piano was used as a prop in a TV series. And they used it to house a fake dead body for a murder scene. In the process, they ended up refinishing the top at a cost of $1,500. This cost matches exactly the starting price of the auction. This piano is comparable to a $50.000 Steinway B, in size, sound and quality. It is a serious instrument for serious piano players who want a world class instrument on a budget, yet in first class condition.
In a piano store, this piano would be listed for $18-$20 grand. But I have no way to market it and it is overwhelming my space and has to go. Also, I have two grand pianos in my house(the other is a Steinway A) and the two are overwhelming the space. I would sell either one, but the Steinway has a different price point as it is a better known manufacture, albiet not neccesarily a better manufacturer.
I apologize to all those watchers who reached out to me and may have planned on bidding. I did not realize that EBAY had rules restricting commentary about certain piano parts. Which if new would not be legal.
By Baldwin and well-suited for smaller spaces at 4'7' This Kranich& Bach was purchased new in 1992 and has served me well(5 years of teaching voice lessons to pay for it: It is hard to part with, however, I have recently purchased a Kawai RX2 and am looking for a good home for this one. I am the original owner. Home use only and tuned regularly. Strings are original, soundboard, pin block and all of the action parts are in perfect condition. Nice tone and sustain and very responsive touch.
Satin cabinet is in very good condition with the exception of a chip in the cabinet finish on the front, left side of the piano casing due to being moved improperly once years ago. If that concerns you, but you are still interested, feel free to make your best offer. Other than that, the piano is in excellent condition. This would be an excellent.

74376 Description Thank you for visiting my Fixed Price or Best Offer auction. This is a walnut veneered baby grand piano that's been in my family for 50+ years.
No one in our family currently plays the piano and it's taking up too much space since we redecorated. It's not in the best of condition but perhaps someone would be interested in playing her'as is' she still has a beautiful sound to her) or work to have her restored. We had her tuned about 10 years ago but I'm sure it's over due for another. At the time, the piano guy said that she's a good piano but is due for a professional overhaul. All the keys have good action and are playable. No keys are loose or missing. As you can see in the pictures she needs work besides a thorough dusting.
And polishing. Several keys have chipped edges but doesn't effect their use. She's missing some veneer on the front corners and there are scratches on the top that will need to be taken care of. The piano seat needs new hinges and fabric top/cushioning. The piano is located on the first floor of our home with a couple of porch steps to traverse. You will need at least two experienced moving men to move her since the piano is large and VERY heavy.
At a minimum. I think that a box truck with a lift-gate is necessary. I don't think that a pick-up truck will do but it may be possible. The piano measures approximately 58' width and 60' in length. The piano legs and foot pedals will need to be removed but that is easily done. Moving the piano is solely the responsibility of the winning bidder/buyer as we cannot assist with any heavy lifting or labor- sorry.
Parts or restore? Trash or treasure? My husband wants to take it apart and re-purpose the wood but I would rather have some one take her and use her for parts to repair another piano or restore her. NO SHIPPING- NO STORAGE- FOR LOCAL PICK-UP ONLY. MUST BE PICKED UP AND REMOVED WITHIN TWO WEEKS.

For the past 30 years. Keyboard Concepts has been the most often recommended piano store in Southern California providing the highest level of service. And the highest quality new and used pianos. This Gorgeous Piano was my late mother's.
And she cherished it. I have a hand-written history of this piano from the previous owner. It is really quite fascinating to read! The cabinet wood is typical of the Kranich& Bach style, in that it is unique and very fine, with amazing grain. I found the following information on line about these amazing pianos, and this instrument seems to be typical, in its beauty and uniqueness.
Kranich& Bach'One of the most innovative and advanced piano makers of the 19th Century was the Kranich& Bach Piano Company of New York. Kranich& Bach was established in 1864, and they were known for building extremely well made, expensive pianos. They were known for their lavish use of exotic woods and extravagant cabinet styles, as well as their superior tone and construction. By 1891, Kranich&. Bach claimed to have built and sold as many as 25,000 pianos nationwide. Kranich& Bach was awarded many patents throughout the 19th& 20th Centuries, many of which are considered well ahead of their time today. In the early 20th Century Kranich& Bach produced a line of very small baby grand pianos called the'Grandette' These pianos were designed to get the most tone and volume possible from a very small instrument.
The Grandette was quite popular and sold very well. Like so many other American piano companies, Kranich& Bach was taken over by the huge Aeolian-American Corporation, and they continued to build Kranich& Bach pianos until the 1980s. Antique Kranich& Bach pianos are a bit unique in their design, but overall are some of the finest pianos we see. I did the research, and see that, while these pianos(K&B Baby Grands) can sell for $20,000.00 fully restored, they are worth somewhere around $1,000.00 when badly in need of restoration, as this one is.
I really want to sell it, so that I do not have to put it into storage, where it is sure to suffer further harm. It breaks my heart to see it out of repair, given the way my mother cherished. Beautiful Kranich& Bach square grand piano built in 1875 of rosewood and is in good condition. Has been striped and needs refinished. The legs are removable. All of the keys do play. But the piano has not been tuned recently and does not stay in tune over long periods of time.
We have loved having this vintage piano for the last 40 years, but are downsizing and cannot keep it. LOCAL PICK UP ONLY! View my feedback and bid with confidence. Check out the pictures. They always tell the story a thousand times better than I ever could. Photos are of the actual item you will receive.

This piano is a very nice parlor grand by Kranich& Bach, circa 1884. This model is very unusual for the era because of its elegant and simplistic design; most pianos of this era were heavily carved and very ornate. Note the nicely carved legs and trim. This piano is Victorian, but not overdone.

LOCAL PICK-UP Please message with questions or concerns. Kranich& Bach Empire Revival Victorian Brazilian Rosewood Parlor Grand Piano with Stool Not many Kranich& Bach pianos like this were made. Rare Art Case piece of furniture made sometime between 1885-1889 The beautiful piano is unique with original satin finish on the case. This wonderful instrument is a classic example of the heavy and bold carved rosewood of the Empire Revival influence popular in the late 19th Century of Victorian Style and was made between the 1870 to 1880s. It is Brazilian Rosewood and in great condition. Kranich& Bach rethought the standard piano action and improved it.
Which gives it an elegant sound- rich warm mellow tone. All keys intact and working. The beautiful keys are creamy white in color have a great touch and a nice feel on the fingers. The original ivory keys were probably replaced in the late. 40s to early 50s.
Just by looking at the quality. The black keys are the original ebony keys. The strings were probably replaced at the same time as the keys. The music stand has intricate delicate cutwork.
That will lay down flat with matching sides. There is a lock.
Kranich And Bach Upright Grand Piano Weigh
The legs were probably contracted out to be made by someone else. Maybe Kimel and Cabus due to the lines and large rosettes on each leg or Thomas Brooks of Cincinnati who made similar rosettes and lines. The harp is painted gold and still shows a faint hand painted scroll pattern on the sides of the bars. This piano is unusual in size as most grand pianos of this era were at least 6'4' in length. The baby grand sizes didn't become popular until well after the turn-of-the-century.
Part of the unique charm of this piano is that it has a very bold and masculine appearance. Yet is rather small in actual size. This piano measures 71' 5'11' from front to back. Nearly 6' It is 54 1/2' wide. When the lid is closed it is 39 1/4' tall. The original bench was not available when we purchased the piano. The bench pictured is included.
It is also rosewood with side screw heigh. Offered for auction is this really outstanding Victorian Kranich& Bach Empire baby grand piano. In playing condition. Restored these pianos can exceed $30.000.00. Case is heavily carved and decorated.
Massive in appearance, but diminutive in size. Looks like mahogany, but that's my best guess. No missing ivories. Comes with the case key. The Antique Piano Shop(google them! Describes Kranich& Bach pianos as follows: Kranich& Bach.
